Talk about "boondocks," Solitaire Namibia has got to take the cake. Located on the Tropic of Capricorn between Wallis Bay and the Namib desert dunes to the south, it is a desolate place where 75 years ago a Dutchman bought some land and started a sheep ranch.
It's so dry there that even sheep couldn't handle the arid climate, and so, the endeavor went belly-up. It somehow attracted enough people to turn the place into a hamlet, however, equipped with the only petrol station within 150 km! Today it's a quaint tourist

Fantastic image with great depth and clarity. Coming from Namibia I can very clearly remember this little place and hope to return soon.

Terrific shot. Would love to see it from a wider angle, but this is a nice shot.
