Hi All,
Portrait my worst weakness, and this morning while looking for bird i meet this MR. PANGOLIN on the grass maybe looking for an ant for his breakfast, without saying "Hi" to him i do some candid.
Since I don't know him very much, I think "Mr. Wiki" can help us and i am sure you all know his address :)
about this capture i try different setup, and the most problem i encounter is i just don't know where to set the focus, on the eyes? body? or the tails? or i used the wrong camera setting.
i do adjust the shadow on ACDsee Pro and still can't get the right tone, should I HPP it?
ok then your comment / tips / techique / WS is highly needed and appreciated to make this Mr. Pangolin look handsome.
oh.. I post front view in WS
Regards,
Ruslan |

Assalamualaikum Jang,
i consider capturing a rare specie of and evasive animal like a pangoline is a luck and it's really yours for this shot indeed.
i'd give more space on her hump and perhaps you could have a better lighting control for a nicer look of this animal's scales (sisik, betul ka tu aaa?)
i like the eye contact with you. well done.
TFS

Assalamuallaikum Lan,
Bertuah dapat captured ini species. Good sharpness and details. Dalam bentuk thumbnail macam askar tengah mengendap musuh. Komposisi menarik. Well done!

Assalammualaikum Jang.
Just had breakfast with Ramdan. Pandai ko ah, posting yang ni pulak.:)
Somehow, in your attempt to get Mr Pangolin, it must have had curled up into a "ball". Hope to see that someday Jang. As for this work, you have gotten the part from the "face" all the way to most of its scaly body. And you have taken it, lying down or low enough.
In wildlife, it is important to get the animal "face". It's the "identity" of the animal beside the texture/color of its skin. And almost always, we focus on one of its eyes obviously and adjust the "zoom" to get either just the face or its environment.
The color/texture of the pangolin's hump here is a bit "washout". This is coming from the reflective/shiny texture of the scales. I think, it's effect of the light from the sky/clouds reflecting on the ventral upper part of the pangolin giving you this "washout" tone.
Have a great weekend shooting with Ram and Gus.
Wassalam

Salam Ruslan,
the pangolin, such a unique creature and you got it well. supebs clarity and sharpness in its wild wild world.
Very sad to note people catch it and expoert it for food.
What a sad word human do to this animal.
