Fantastic image with great timing and had you not OE the feathers hit by direct light-this would have been flawless. My suggestion would be to shoot in CWA metering with EV dialed down to -0.7-1.0 EV. This would give you the correct exposure for the main subject and reduce the OE. Good attempt though and you have captured the action really well. Well done!
