Pena National Palace

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The Pena National Palace (Portuguese: Palácio Nacional da Pena) is the oldest palace of the European Romanticism. It is located in the civil parish of São Pedro de Penaferrim, municipality of Sintra, Portugal. The palace stands on the top of a hill above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. It is also used for state occasions by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials.

The Pena National Palace... wow. There is so much going on in this image that I see a full day of photography options just within this one frame. The rock wall in the foreground, the geometric patterns of the palace itself... and then those architectural features poking out along the skyline. EXCELLENT! Someday, I hope to see this for my own eyes, but until then, I'll rely on you to bring me some pieces of Portugal. THANKS for sharing, Jose. -Kelly

Bonjour Jose,

Joli palais flanqué en haut de ces remparts, se détachant magnifiquement dans ce ciel bleu azur, belle perspective nous montrant toute sa grandeur!!!
Amitiés
Odile

Nice picture, good composition but could be better as the natural framing provided by the tree also masks the yellow tower in a way that is at least in my oppinion a bit disturbing.
Regards,
Tibi

Hi Jose,
exposure is well managed. Colours looks attractive too. Well done.
Best regards, Daniel

Very imposing looking architecture, the POV really gives a sense of scale and feeling of power and might. Slight pity that the leaves at the tope of the frame obscure some of the building, but doesn't look out of place.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hello Jose,

A good pov to give an even more imposing impression from this building! Lovely architectural details and good management of the light.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Jose,
What a beautiful palace. It looks like it was build throughout some different periods since there are different styles visable. I like all those different shapes and lines.
TFS,
Niek

Hi, friend!
Yes, I remember. Last year I was in Portugal. I was in Sintra. Nice colours and nice light. Very interesting and oryginal palace.

Excellent capture and good perspective. Beautiful blue color. Best Regards Clanyi

Hi Jose
The blue of the sky first attracted my eye, then the intricate architecture with all the detailing, then my eye is led to the silhouette of the leaves. Very sharp image. TFS
