Templeton Woods in Autumn
 |
|
| [Normas para las notas] Notas del fotógrafo |
Unfortunately, due to pressure of work recently, I didn't manage to get out and about with my camera very much when we had some glorious colours on the trees this autumn. Now that winds and heavy rain have prevailed, most of the beautiful leaves have gone and we must wait for the beauty of bare trees clothed with frost and snow.
This, however, was taken during a brief opportunity on the outskirts of Dundee just over a week ago. It had been quite wet but the colours were still there. Templeton Woods lie on the north-east edge of Dundee, a fine place for a walk, relaxation or a picnic.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Beautiful POV and composition of this colourful Autumn street. I love the Deep DOF and sharpness of this photo. You have squeezed out some amazing DR out of this difficult scene with strong back-light and shadow/mid-tone laden challenge and pulled it off very well! Well done!

Dilshan

Hi John,
Superb! The whole photo breathes! You managed well the light, it gives brightness at the natural colors!
I like the sense of space, here, and the way you frame the image with the branch at the top!
Very well done! Annie
Classic composition with the road leading into the distance - good use of 1/3rds too.
Nice colour and light.
The pic may be a little oversharpened as there is some pixellating around the leaves - to be honest I find that tree photos seem to be most sensitive to this. I've often had the same thing!!
Nice autumn shot though..

Hello John,
Composition this photo is perfect, colors and light also are pretty only I think that you oversharpened a little.
Regards, Pawel
Hello John,
A fine autumnal scene, with enough green leaves remaining to make a contrast with those turning brown.
From a composition point of view, the road makes a good lead in to the image, towards the point where it passes out of view close to an intersection of two lines of thirds.
The top of the bank on the left runs along a horizontal thirds line.
The fallen leaves at the right make an attractive foreground, and the overhanging branches at the top provide a natural frame.
A quiet restful scene.
Kind regards,
Peter.
