Night at the Fights VI

I know some of you will be relieved that I've reached the end of my professional boxing series . . .

This guy scared me a bit. He was pretty much "over the top" in attitude and antics during his match, and when he climbed the ropes after winning the match, I thought he was coming out of the ring in my direction. I think I squeezed this shot off by accident when I was throwing my arms over my head to protect myself.

My husband reminds me that his nickname was "The Cyclone", and he was fighting "The Hurricane" (see my post "The Referee" to see his opponent). Coincidentally, the model that struts the sign around the ring to let you know what number round it is was named "Rain", so there was lots of violent weather that match. (Sorry, no pictures of the scantily-clad model in heels.)

PP work--only crop was from the bottom, taking off a little of his belly to get the proportions of the golden rectangle. Some red-eye work, and that was it, besides the typical frame, resize, and sharpening.

Great candid capture Karen! I see what you mean, his expression is pretty scary even from here. Good sharp image with great colours.
Cheers, John.

Lovely portrait of a boxer, Karen - you've captured the power and emotion wonderfully well. Great shot!

Hi Karen,

Excellent sports portrait. Evokes a lot of emotion. Technically is very strong, with good color and lighting. Well composed.

Even if many dont like violent sports Karen, you continnue
For me ? No.. I do not like sports like this.
But I do admire that it wont stop you to do as you seem fit.

Hello Karn,

I like the expressions caught here by you. TFS

Hello Karen!

Powerful portrait. You could not have captured the expression and passion of the winner any better than that . Well done!

Excellent series Karen and a good one to finish it. Well composed and very good light and detail. TFS,

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Estuary Reflections IV’. Did you notice my new ID image?

Hi Karen,
He is realy scary I wouldn't like been against him on the ring! Nice capture "ma chére".

great catch and framed well with the arms touching the main frame
the agressiveness comes over in the lighting as well being hard and edgy
highlights in the eyes could have been cloned in red to really add some flavour

I don't ever plan on attending a boxing match, but this photo has all of the elements it takes to compete!! Fierce with his expression, tatoos, manner, etc... It's an awesome photo with great color, expression, and point of view. I feel like I'm in the ring.... losing!

thanks for sharing, Lisa
