Two hippos were grazing at the Sunset Dam. It was a very overcast day and I had to increase the brightness and contrast a lot on the main photo.

On this trip we saw many hippos and also learnt that their increasing numbers are causing problems at many of the Kruger Park Dams since their extreta in the water cause Blue-green algae, that is poisonous, (and can kill other animals duch as the endangered whote and black rhino) to grow in the water.

Some plans are in place to counter-act this problem of which some is to burn the grass around the dams to make the hippos leave to another area and also to lower the level of the water in the dams for the same purpose. These are however only temporary solutions and not really beneficial to other animals too. This was one reason why we saw far less animals at the dams.

Eventually culling of some animals may be considered.

I added the road sign just for fun. These signs are seen in many towns near the game park where the hippos realy "come to town" for a meal at night.

A very interesting note, gee...I can't imagine a hippo 'coming to town' :0 yikes! I like your pp work. Great job! TFS and have a happy day!

Definitely more interesting with the signpost especially from the thumbnail. Although the hippos are not facing the camera and the dry backdrop color is not showing more contrasting color tone, it makes a good view at the edge of water.

Very nice pp work effect.
