"No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
"Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee." John Donne (1572-1631)
************************************************
I took this picture in the National Museum in Copenhagen and by coincidence I was also flipping the pages of Hemingway's famous "From whom the Bell Tolls". I thought my image would fit the words...
No need for big explanation...

take care, everybody, Stef

work: just adjust curves, shadows/highlights & USM. there's a lot of noise I know, but I thought it fit here, so I didn't even try to remove...

an ISO-like composition... i like it, Stef!

Hey, we're next to each other!! Nice one, I would have liked the whole shadow of the bell, but maybe that was not possible? Still, good work, M, (*_*)

Simple but nice composed. Clear photo with good details on the wall. The bell is so beautiful. You composed it on the good place. I find this photo great.
Carmela

P.S. I'll make WS just becouse it is nice object and I am courious what is possible to do with this photo:-). It gives me nice ideas:-))))

Hi Stefania

Strong, simple & powerful. I like the shadow & top lighting. Good work!

Nice simplistic shot. Just wish there was more of the bell's shadow though, but maybe you were unable to step to the side a bit more. I like the composition with the bell in the top left hand corner, leaving so much negative space. Very nicely composed. I think the grain looks good here and is well suited.

Hi Stefania,
great photo! I like the shade of the bell on this white wall. Pure simplicity...

hi, good shot ... but !
i think you could stand more away and then zoom in to get the better perspective and to include the whole shadow

greetz

That poem has always given me chillbumps, Stef, and I think your photo suits it quite well. There's nothing sadder than the sound of a low-toned bell tolling, all alone. That's what this shot brings to my mind, although this bell probably doesn't have such a low tone. Love the composition, the textures of the wall, everything!
Gayle

Uma bela composição, simples e solitária.
mas com todo seu requinte e graça.
A luz está perfeita, a sombra marca bem a forma do sino.
Parabens pela fotografia.

Sergio

Ding! Dong! I like the simplicity! It's nice! Minimalist!

Hi Stef, i saw this at work and on the wall in front of me is the Donne quote on a poster! I also have just read Hemingway again! Thought the positioning of the bell in your photo is interesting, on the edge kind of, the white wall being the blank canvas of our life! good one Stef a thoughtful photo from a thoughtful photographer
Regards
Chris

So simple but so beautiful at the same time, this shows your talent and trained eye. Great textures and nice angle, the shadow of the bell is a great touch.
Take care,
Vassilis

This is really outstanding. So crisp and clear. I love the grain in the photo and agree it definitely needed to stay....
Love how you took a simple object and turned it into a beautiful work of art...:O)

Lieutenant Berrendo, watching the trail, came riding up, his thin face serious and grave. His submachine gun lay across his saddle in the crook of his left arm. Robert Jordan lay behind the tree, holding on to himself very carefully and delicately to keep his hands steady. He was waiting until the officer reached the sunlit place where the fist trees of the pine forest joined the green slope of the meadow. He could feel his heart beating against the pine needle floor of the forest.

Great novel and even greater pic....

Nice, simple, sharp and lovely composed with a nice note. Great work.

Stefania fantastic, simple, sharp, well prenseted, and colors very contrasting (2 colors only or so).. you have a good eye, keep them comming they are worth looking at.
Ciao
Rosana
