what is the beauty? is it about decorations, or about the simplity? is it the white, or the red?

I found this cast-iron kettle in the Bran Castle ("Dracula"'s, see my previous pictures for the descriptions) and I keep looking at it... it has a certain beauty that I never find in the today's objects... and then I remebered the words of a great Roumanian esseist, Alexandru Paleologu, who died last year... he said about the contemporary design of the houses that it is only about the utility, no about the beauty, because the beauty has no utility...

It's hard for me to express myself in English, I don't know if anybody can understand this note, because now everybody could reply: but no, the modern design is it also beautiful, not only useful... yes, it's true, but the beauty whithout utility it remains so pure:)

and I look at this "leg" of the kettle and I wonder: why it isn't much "simple"? why they didn't make it whithout ornaments? why?... it woulded have been so different, isn't it? it would have been trivial, whithout any love in it... the spiral means that the artist who made it wanted to makes our life more pleasant... don't you think?:)

Hi Anca...
This is a bold presentation! But then... the one that nothing dares nothing gaines! I think I like it... but it takes some time to get used to it... Colours are great, textures likewise! What I'm not so sure about is the totally absent background..? Your picture and note works as one unity and your English is just fine!!
Never stop experimenting, even if you don't hit the jackpot every time!
Pablo -

THAT'S LIFE, also what makes my every new day challenging and interesting...
Thanx, M, (*_*)

Bravo!

Colors and contemplation are fantastic! Your arrangement of subject and background also draw the eye in with the angle. (You express yourself rather well in English!) I often wonder what the world is coming to and why there is not the same beauty in the "new" world as there is in the "old" world...and I appreciate it even more. Well done!

Belle matière, mais je l'aurais mieux vue avec un fond noir, à la place du blanc.

I like the two colours
They really complementair

Hi Anca,
I love your note - it points out so simple things. And your photo (in this case I can say - attached to it) shows it perfectly. I agree with Pablo about white background. Fortunately the kettle "legs" are so attracting (and reminding me about this simple truth - modern stuff we use is very ergonomic, but where's the beauty?!) that I forget about the not fitting background... but please, next time think also of bg... :-) tfs!

Hi Anca,

Great compo. Good framing.
I like your reflection about "beauty", a big theme to speak during long time.

Well composed image with beautiful colors

Simply great but too noisy. Somebody - I don’t remember who, seems that an American - said “a nice thing must be practical and a practical thing must be nice”!
